Subject: Dr. Papadopoulos’ talk will focus on the element of vulnerability that characterises unaccompanied migrant minors on a global level and further examine their positionality within the Greek context. Starting from reception and asylum procedures, emphasis will be placed on administrative processes and the provisions that govern the rights and needs of this particular population. Gradually, a thorough analysis will commence as regards the minors’ current legal status, coupled with a discussion on the recent developments in the national legal framework concerning detention matters and custodial measures. Eventually, the need for socio-legal studies to be combined with qualitative analysis will be elaborated upon, thus allowing for Dr. Papadopoulos to present his recently completed research project on protecting and promoting the rights of detained unaccompanied minors in Greece.
