CULTURAL CRIMINOLOGY LAB

Cultural criminology is a relatively new criminological field that is dynamically developing on a theoretical and empirical level, as evidenced by the growing number of books, academic articles and conferences referring to it. In addition, new investigative approaches to criminal phenomena, mainly through qualitative methods and more modern ones, such as visual and virtual methods, provide new forms of perception and interpretation of crime and the social responses to it.

Within this context, and taking into account the increased interest in Europe and internationally for the representations of criminal phenomena and divergent behaviors through art and pop culture, CSC inaugurates the creation of the working group entitled Cultural Criminology Lab through the following:

  • Organization of academic seminars;
  • Organization of events, meetings and workshops;
  • Conducting academic research;
  • Networking with related organizations;
  • Undertaking national and international initiatives.

The purpose of the Lab is to encourage the study and research of cultural criminology as well as the production of new knowledge about the criminal phenomenon.
